Features


Intense garnet red color, with fruity aromas of dried black berries, plums, figs and dates, with notes of green tea and bark. These aromatic sensations accompany the wine throughout its long life and underline its thickness. On the palate the wine does not show itself for its character but rather is enhanced by its layered and elegant structure. The percentages vary from year to year and are decided "instantly", at the time of assembly.

Vinification


Fermented in open vats. To favor an optimal extraction of color and tannins, the pomace cap is reassembled and fulled up to four times a day for the entire duration of fermentation. Subsequently, the wine is decanted into barrique where the malolactic fermentation takes place and where it remains in small oak containers for a period of about 18 months. Finally, the wine ages for about a year in the bottle.

FRANZ HAAS company has always worked to best express the quality of the wines it produces. It was born in 1880 and is handed down until today always at a FRANZ HAAS . Approximately 55 hectares of vines are worked, divided between properties, rents and contributors. FRANZ HAAS has always been recognized as a great lover and lover of the most difficult, most sensitive, most satisfying grape variety: Pinot Noir. Despite all the attention, commitment, effort, the product is not always up to its origins , and therefore our selection, the “Schweizer”, is not always placed on the market. Another detail that distinguishes FRANZ HAAS , is the connection with the artist Riccardo Schweizer, who also collaborated with Picasso, Chagall, Cocteau, Paul Éluard and Le Corbusier and created the wine labels ... which were donated by Maria Luisa Manna to Franz , as a good omen for the release of its wines. The vineyards are all located in the municipalities of Egna, Montagna and Aldino and start from an altitude of 240 meters up to 1,150 meters, with a great variability of microclimate and soil, from porphyritic sand to clay up to high soils. limestone content.
