Features

Very concentrated and rich with a deep ruby color, strong vegetal aromas, rather aggressive, which do not yield but continue to develop, hot and ripe, even after some time that the wine has been poured into the glass. In the mouth it is robust, dry, with a wild and "earthy" consistency that continues very persistent, thanks to a great tannic structure.

Vinification

The grapes are de-stemmed and after a short period of maceration, the must ferments for 10 days at a controlled temperature. During fermentation it remains in continuous contact with the skins. Towards the end of fermentation the temperature is allowed to rise to obtain a better extraction of color and flavor.

Pairings

Classic red for second courses.

Producer

The company was founded in 1907 by the hand of Joseph Hofstatter today the great grandson Martin Foradori Hofstatter with a purely family management carries on the estate with its approximately 50 hectares of vines. The vineyards located between 250 and 800 meters above sea level in Bassa Atesina in the province of Bolzano give the opportunity to grow different varieties of grapes, both white and red. The focus is on the traditional varieties for the area: Gewürztraminer, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Nero, Lagrein and Schiava. Hofstätter wines make their origin recognized. They take on the flavor of the exposure where their grapes were born, of the soils and of the microclimate. The Gewürztraminer del Kolbenhof and the Pinot Nero Vigna S. Urbano di Barthenau are among the first wines from South Tyrol to take the name of their place of origin
