Producer

CANTINA GIRLAN was founded in 1923 by 23 winegrowers in Girlan/Cornaiano in Alto Adige on a historic 16th century farm. Since 1923, CANTINA GIRLAN has been based in this typical Oltradige farmhouse. Against the backdrop of these walls, where tradition can still be felt at every turn, and in the maze of corridors and ravines of the cellar, the secrets of cutting-edge winemaking technology are hidden. In 2010, a process of modernization of the cellar was initiated in order to bring it up to date with today's technical requirements. Today, CANTINA GIRLAN has 200 wine-growing members, spread over a vineyard area of 220 hectares, in the best production areas of Oltradige and Bassa Atesina. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of between 250 and 550 m above sea level, on soils of varying composition that provide an ideal environment for the cultivation of numerous native and international varieties. In addition to the soil, a very important factor is the human factor: that of the vintner and our winemaker, Gerhard Kofler, who maintains a close relationship with the contributing members. It is from this fruitful exchange of experiences that the basis for quality ambitions is created.
