Features

Intense ruby red color, it reveals delicate hints of berries and cherries. The fine and ripe tannins play with acidity and accompany it, giving the wine elegance, persistence and a long finish.

Vinification

After the harvest, carried out carefully by hand, the grapes are gently de-stemmed. Alcoholic fermentation follows for about a dozen days during which a gentle fulling must be carried out daily up to four times. After the malolactic fermentation takes place and a subsequent refinement of 12 months in barriques (35% new). Finally this Lagrein rests for six months in large oak barrels before the final stop of one year in the bottle.

Pairings

Red meats, game, feathered game, hard cheeses.

Producer

Castel Turmhof in Cortaccia here the story of TIEFENBRUNNER . Since 1675 the farm has belonged to the family of the current owners. With the opening of a bar inside Castel Turmhof in 1968, Hilde and Herbert TIEFENBRUNNER took the first step towards a new era. Wines that had previously been destined for direct sales began to be bottled. From then on, new domestic and foreign markets opened up and the number of bottles produced continued to increase. Since 1983 his son Christof has also managed the farm and together with his wife Sabine, they have dedicated a worthy contribution of strength and passion to this long winemaking tradition for a continuous search for careful quality. Constantly aspiring to perfect quality and strengthened by a tradition crowned with success, the winery has frequently been awarded with national and international awards.
