Characteristics

A bright, straw-yellow colour, it has good concentration and a pronounced aromatic vein, with spicy-smoky notes of dried flowers and roses that tend to expand and thicken in the glass. The taste is dense and rich, with a firm body, remarkable freshness and vivacity. We recommend allowing this wine to age further in the bottle for at least 1 year, so that it can refine its bouquet to the fullest.

Vinification

The grapes are immediately lightly pressed and the must is left in contact with the skins for a few hours. This is followed by careful pressing, the natural precipitation of sediments and fermentation at a constant temperature of 20° C. All this enhances the unique organoleptic characteristics of this wine.

Pairings

Perfect as an aperitif, but also excellent with gorgonzola cheese

Producer

The winery was founded in 1907 by Joseph Hofstatter, and today his grandson Martin Foradori Hofstatter runs the estate with about 50 hectares of vines. The vineyards are located at altitudes between 250 and 800 metres above sea level in the Bassa Atesina in the province of Bolzano and offer the possibility of cultivating various white and red grape varieties. The focus is on the traditional varieties for the area: Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Lagrein, and Schiava. Hofstätter wines make their origins known. They take on the flavour of the exposure where their grapes were grown, the soils and the microclimate. The Gewürztraminer from Kolbenhof and the Pinot Noir Vigna S. Urbano from Barthenau are among the first wines from South Tyrol to be named after their place of origin
