Features

Dense and deep ruby-garnet color, it has extremely typical aromas of undergrowth, small fruits and sweet and persuasive morello cherries. Warm, harmonious, coherent, round, rich in nuances, very solid and fine in the mouth. Then it opens wide and velvety, almost caressing, with gentle refinement.

Vinification

75% of the grapes are separated from the stalks and 25% are poured intact into the barrels. Fermentation lasts 11 days with the must always in direct contact with the skins. Aging: After two careful decanting, this wine ages for one year in small oak barrels, after assembly six months in large oak barrels and then one year in the bottle.

Pairings

Red meats, game and aged cheeses.

Producer

The company was founded in 1907 by the hand of Joseph Hofstatter today the great grandson Martin Foradori Hofstatter with a purely family management carries on the estate with its approximately 50 hectares of vines. The vineyards located between 250 and 800 meters above sea level in Bassa Atesina in the province of Bolzano give the opportunity to grow different varieties of grapes, both white and red. The focus is on the traditional varieties for the area: Gewürztraminer, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Nero, Lagrein and Schiava. Hofstätter wines make their origin recognized. They take on the flavor of the exposure where their grapes were born, of the soils and of the microclimate. The Gewürztraminer del Kolbenhof and the Pinot Nero Vigna S. Urbano di Barthenau are among the first wines from South Tyrol to take the name of their place of origin
